Former attorney Richard Hamlin has been convicted life in prison for torturing his wife and abusing his children. The abuse occurred when Richard Hamlin tried to force his wife to invent "repressed memories" of satanic sexual abuse, in order to force his father-in-law to pay compensation. The money was needed to cover economical problems after Ritchard Hamlins had declared bankruptcy in his $700,000-a-year law practice. Hamlin argued that he was a victim of a plot hatched by his father-in-law, an agricultural researcher, whom Hamlin described as a leader of a satanic cult. Hamlin have written his version of the case on at least on webpage dedicated to conspiracy theories about satanic cults, UFOs and CIA cover-ups, and he has been supported as an victim in those circles.
